Intro: Why an Action Week? More actions, less speeches! This is the way we’d like to mark the 10 years that passed since Kyoto Protocol commitments were made. A jubilee time indeed! During December 3 and December 14 2007, the Bali conference on climate change took place. It was a great occasion for states to reiterate their “interest” and “strategies” in the field of climate change. However, as green-minded youth, we are entitled to question the actual commitment of our governments, since so little has been done so far. We strongly believe that an increased public pressure is required. As responsible members of society, we are compelled to step in. It’s high time that we voice our opinions and motivate our peers to join in the squad of climate heroes. As a guiding principle, we aim at raising awareness in our communities by stressing the fact that individual actions matter, thus carrying on the message “Be the change you want to see!”.

cc e-card 1.pngKeepitcoolcampaign.org is intended to provide resources and ideas for activities throughout the Action Week and beyond. We kindly ask you to share with us best practices examples, experiences from previous campaigns (both positive and negative) and any other suggestions you may have. It’s very important for us to keep in touch so that we can unify our efforts in order to effectively convey our message both at local and international level. We are also strongly encouraging you to keep record of your local actions and post pictures, videos, press releases etc, in order to create a database and include them in a final campaign report. Moreover, should you have any suggestions for flyers and other campaign materials, please let us know. We will do our best to provide local organizations with several editable templates to choose from, being as flexible as possible in considering the particularities of each society.   To conclude, we are confident that together we will manage to send a clear message to our peers and to society in general. Nevertheless, we hope that actions will not be restricted to one week. Therefore, let’s consider the Action Week as a generic term for our present and future actions on climate change.  On behalf of the campaign team, thank you all for your commitment. I’m really looking forward to hearing from you soon! Keep it cool!
