Dear friend,
Welcome to the website of Federation of Young European Greens’ Keep it cool! campaign against Climate Change! It will help you take the first steps to stop climate change first of all by adjusting your lifestyle according to the environemental requirements and secondly by promoting the message through local actions.
Together we want to stop climate change, which has long ceased to be a pending threat. With the contribution of green-minded youth and organizations, the website is intended to be a platform for exchange and support. If you would like to join the campaign, then check out the different headings in the menu on your left! You will find here ideas for actions, action materials, pictures of performed actions and many more.
The website is also intended to be used also as a resource tool for Action Weeks against Climate change. The first action week took place in December 2007 and coincided with the UN talks in Bali. The second action week took place in April and was a follow-up on the Wintercamp in Nantes, France. The third action week was planned for December to coincide with the COP14 meeting in Poznań, Poland, where FYEG was also very present! Check out the different reports on the action weeks here!
How does the campaign work?
Since FYEG's members are all very experienced
in organising actions and campaigns we have chosen to leave the campaign very
open and leave much of the details to the members, or individuals. Also every
country has its own big climate issues and we would encourage you include those
in the FYEG campaign. What we want to reach with the campaign is to raise
awareness about climate change and encourage young people (especially) to play
their part in solving climate change by making small changes to their lives.
Therefore we developed posters that you can print yourself and hang in public
places. You can even change the text to your own language. We also offer you a folder that you can
translate and print for a more extensive overview of changes people can make as
an individual. In order to promote the campaign we made some gadgets like
stickers and buttons that you can order through the FYEG office in Brussels.
On the website you might have noticed a pretty
lady. She is Captain Climate, the ambassador of the campaign. We use her to
unite and encourage people to become climateers since we think everyone can be
a climate hero! It would be cool if you asked her to come
to your actions. Which means someone of you organisation has to dress up like
her. But ofcourse this is up to you. Captain climate is not always dressed like
this, this is her superhero outfit. We think everyone can be a climate hero so
normally she is dressed like any one else. But you'll always find her wearing
her hat and her CC logo in public. The logo you can download from this site as
well so you can put it on your own clothes. (It is possible to buy paper that
allows you to iron self printed pictures on your shirt.)
We would very much appreciate it if you send us
your ideas for actions, pictures you take at the actions and press messages. We
will put them on the website in order to inspire other people. The campaign started with an Action Week from 2-9th December. But it will run until the
elections in 2009. Since that means there are only a few more months to go, don't wait too long with sending in your stuff. And while you are at it, sent us your suggestions for a new campaign as well!
